3 Hare Court runs a mini-pupillage programme for up to 20 mini-pupils per year, with the next intake from September to November 2026.
Our Joint Heads of Mini-Pupillage are Adam Riley and Anna Gatrell, who work closely with our Chambers Manager, Guy Mitchell, and our Equality & Diversity Committee, to ensure that the programme is accessible and productive.
Mini-pupillages at 3 Hare Court Chambers are typically held over 1-day (but can be extended depending on availability). During that time, we aim to show you a range of work and give you the opportunity to gain an insight into what life is like in Chambers, speak to a number of our members of varying seniority, including our current pupils and attend court (if available).
Please note that Chambers will only consider applications for mini-pupillage from eligible candidates, who have done at least one of the following:

During your mini-pupillage, it is likely that you will read or hear about confidential and sensitive information. Chambers is committed to protecting and respecting the privacy of all of our clients; it is of central importance to us that our clients can trust us with their information. As such, please be advised that before your mini-pupillage commences you will be asked to complete a confidentiality agreement, and you will generally be required to maintain the strict confidentiality of all confidential and/or sensitive information you acquire knowledge of during your mini-pupillage, both throughout and following completion of the mini-pupillage.

For applicants who are unable to access funding through their Inn, Chambers will fund pupils’ expenses (travel and, if necessary, accommodation) up to £100 for each mini-pupil. We ask that you provide receipts to our Chambers Manager, Guy Mitchell, either during or after your mini-pupillage and we will arrange reimbursement. Mini-pupils are not expected to pay for their own lunches (or coffees/hot beverages!).
Given we only offer 20 mini-pupillage spaces per year, across two cycles (in the Autumn and Spring) there will be some applicants who are not successful. Please do not be discouraged; you can re-apply, and it is not necessary to undertake a mini-pupillage at Chambers before submitting an application for pupillage here (though, of course, we warmly welcome prospective pupillage applicants to apply also for a mini-pupillage in order to gain a better understanding of Chambers).
