The employment team at 3 Hare Court have been busy tackling a range of topical employment law issues from pandemic related matters to Brexit. See below for a round-up of topics we have covered from January to April 2021.
On our New Year’s webinar Tom Poole QC (who was made silk on 15 March), Sara Ibrahim and Emily Moore covered the issue of Post Employment Notice Pay (‘PENP’). We address how you calculate PENP, changes coming into effect on 6 April this year and the tax treatment of termination payments.
For those of you who want to know how Brexit could impact on employment law in the UK, Sara Ibrahim and Hannah Fry have written an article for the International Employment Lawyer talking about CJEU judgments and issues of jurisdiction. With a rise in remote working, it is important for employers to know where their employees are regularly working from. You can find the article here.
We also continued to produce our series of short webinars (of 10 minutes or less) dealing with topics arising in the pandemic, which you can see on our YouTube channel. This year, Sara Ibrahim and Emily Moore have talked about the ramifications of the Supreme Court decision in Uber as well as the resurgence in the use of ‘fire and rehire’ tactics.
Finally, you might be interested to see our travel and aviation team’s quarterly, which focuses on Brexit here. It covers a range of topics including UK equality and employment law after Brexit as well as mutual recognition and enforcement of insolvencies in Europe.
Our team continues to offer bespoke training during this period, so please do get in touch with firstname.lastname@example.org if this would be of interest.
