3 Hare Court act in five week trial in the Chancery Division by video – longest virtual hearing to date. One Blackfriars Limited.

Tom Poole has recently completed, what we understand to be the biggest Chancery Division trial virtually. He acted for the claimants.

The trial commenced on Monday 8th June before Deputy High Court Judge John Kimbell QC.

Tom was instructed by Humphries Kerstetter and act on behalf of the liquidators of One Blackfriars Limited, the previous developer of the high profile London tower One Blackfriars (known now as the “Boomerang”), in relation to a multi-million pound claim against the former administrators of the company, BDO. The claim relates to the sale of the development site at an alleged undervalue in October 2011 by joint administrators appointed by the principal secured lender.

Leading counsel said:

“The whole trial worked well 99% of the time. Lots of lessons learned along the way about how to get the best out of the situation and there must be tech and team-power utility for the return to normal service. Trials and arbitrations should change shape in the future.”
