Samuel studied history at the School of Oriental and African Studies and St Antony’s College, Oxford before studying the GDL and BPTC in London as a Lincoln’s Inn scholar. He has an interest in all of Chambers’ core practice areas.
Samuel is developing a broad practice across business disputes, including the law of companies, partnerships, unincorporated associations and contractual disputes. Samuel has experience in analysing complex factual patterns in claims related to insolvency, pre-insolvency transactions at undervalue and company directors’ duties.
During pupillage Samuel worked under Simon Davenport QC and Tom Poole QC on a £250 million claim by liquidators against former administrators alleging that property in London was sold at an undervalue during administration.
Samuel has a particular interest in employment claims involving sex, race and disability discrimination. He has worked on claims involving unfair dismissal, constructive dismissal, wrongful dismissal and breach of restrictive covenants.
Samuel has experience in claims with a cross-border element, including claims that were issued before, during and after the Brexit transition period. During pupillage he assisted other members of chambers in the Supreme Court case X v Kuoni Travel Ltd  UKSC 37.
He has also appeared in numerous cases involving serious allegations of fundamental dishonesty.
Samuel frequently appears in claims under EC Regulation 261/2004.
Samuel accepts instructions on a range of public law matters and is a member of the Attorney-General ‘junior junior’ panel. He gained experience in Privy Council work during pupillage.
