Mark Strachan KC SC, formerly Head of Chambers, has an international practice, having been admitted to the Hong Kong Bar in 2002. He regularly appears in the Hong Kong courts and is also instructed to appear in cases in London and in many overseas jurisdictions.
His main practice areas are commercial disputes (litigation and arbitrations) and appellate work before the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council (including constitutional, commercial, common law and criminal cases).
He undertakes arbitration work and is available to sit as an arbitrator.
He was appointed as a Recorder in 1990 and as a Deputy High Court Judge in 1993.

Has acted for numerous substantial clients in a range of arbitral work, which mirrors his commercial litigation work. Has conducted arbitrations in London, in the HKIAC in Hong Kong and in foreign jurisdictions.
Has acted for numerous substantial corporations, governments and individuals in England, Hong Kong and elsewhere on a full range of commercial matters. From 2018 to 2020 he was involved in long-running litigation between two members of one of the most substantial real estate families in Hong Kong.
Has acted for various governments on numerous constitutional matters in the Privy Council, and also in Hong Kong and various foreign jurisdictions. In 2020 he conducted a hearing on behalf of the Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago, involving his constitutional powers regarding impeaching the Chief Justice.
Has acted in a range of cases for well-known banks and other financial institutions, including cases involving misselling, fraud etc.
Has acted in cases involving professional negligence of accountancy firms, surveyors, solicitors etc.
