Mark Strachan QC leading Howard Stevens acted for the respondent in this Privy Council Appeal.

“Any common law rule that coercive relief would not be granted against the Crown, in this instance in the form of the Government of Grenada, had to yield to the absolute right of the appellant under the constitution of Grenada not to be deprived of his property without compensation. It followed that the relevant Crown officer would be ordered to pay the compensation awarded.”
