Charlotte Pope-Williams has been shortlisted for Junior Pro Bono Barrister of the Year in the 2024 Bar Pro Bono Awards. The Bar Pro Bono Awards, running since 1997, recognise individuals and chambers who have gone above and beyond expectation when undertaking pro bono work to support access to justice. Charlotte is part of an elite group of 10 junior barrister finalists chosen by a panel of judges from over 100 nominations, a true testament to all her incredible work.

Charlotte commented, “It is wonderful to be on the final shortlist with such eminent and dedicated members of the bar. Pro bono work is vital, particularly where central government funding for the provision of legal services to the public is limited. This nomination is added impetus for me to continue to undertake pro bono work.”

Charlotte is Chambers’ pro bono champion in association with the Bar’s National Pro Bono Charity Advocate (formerly known as the Bar Pro Bono Unit). Advocate is a charity that finds free legal assistance from volunteer barristers. Charlotte’s role as Chambers’ pro bono champion involves providing support to those members of chambers who wish to undertake pro bono work, directing members to resources and alerting members to pro bono opportunities near and far.

The awards ceremony takes place at Middle Temple on 8 May 2024. The full shortlist can be found on the Advocate website.
