Tim Prudhoe is involved in Belize extradition proceedings. The extradition request, by Mexico, is for Nimrod Tillett in respect of the death of his then partner in 2019.

On 19 April 2024, Tim appeared in the Belize City Magistrates before Chief Magistrate Jayani Wegodapola. The issue of applicability of the extradition treaty in place between Mexico and Belize was flagged, as well as protections under the Belize Constitution in respect of medical care in the Mexican prison system.

The next hearing is scheduled for 5 June 2024. The Chief Magistrate has scheduled written legal arguments in advance of the adjourned hearing.

The case has been covered extensively in local news:

Tim, who has a predominantly international practice, has a wealth of experience in complex and controversial cases. He is instructed by Turks and Caicos Islands law firm Stanbrook Prudhoe.
