Commissions of inquiry, in which members of Chambers regularly appear in the United Kingdom, are also a feature of our international work

We have recently acted to challenge (successfully) the appointment of a Commission to inquire into the alleged wrongdoings of politicians in Antigua.

We have also recently been concerned with Commissions of Inquiry in Dominica and St Vincent, also involving prominent politicians.

These cases typically allege wrongdoing, criminal offences, and misfeasance in public office by government ministers. They are sensitive and have political overtones. Close analysis of the terms of reference, the extent of jurisdiction of the Commission, and issues of procedural fairness, are always likely to be at the heart of the dispute.
