On International Women’s Day, we take this opportunity to celebrate an outstanding year for the women of 3 Hare Court Chambers. The past 12 months have marked historic moments for Chambers, alongside major professional achievements by our Members and staff.

In October, Katherine Deal KC became our first female Head of Chambers. She is not only the first woman to lead 3 Hare Court Chambers, but also the first female silk our set has had, reflecting her exceptional contributions to our practice and to the wider Bar. This year has also been transformative for her personally, with successful cochlear implant surgery in February 2025 and a very welcome return to fully hearing in hearings.

We are also delighted to highlight the achievements of our female Members and staff from the past year:

Charlotte Pope-Williams has been teaching advocacy in South Africa and the British Virgin Islands this year. She has also retained her ranking as a Leading Junior in Banking and Financial Services, with referees describing her as having “encyclopedic knowledge of financial regulation law.”

Emily Moore acted as junior counsel for the Department of Heath and Social Care in multiple modules of the UK Covid-19 Inquiry. She gave birth to her second child, a son, in summer last year and is currently enjoying maternity leave.

Alexandra Sidossis has had a notable year, welcoming her second child while continuing to excel in practice. She acted as junior counsel in the widely reported whistleblowing case Woodall v Google UK, representing the Claimant in allegations of retaliatory redundancy linked to a “boys’ club” culture. Her leader, Flora Page KC, praised her work directly to Katherine Deal KC — recognition we are proud to echo.

Georgia Purnell continues to act as sole counsel in multi million pound fraud litigation against two silk led teams. She is also currently instructed in an appeal before the Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM) Court of Appeal concerning asset recovery proceedings arising from an arbitral award exceeding £150 million. Georgia has also been recognised again this year by the directories for her expertise: she has been ranked for the third consecutive year as a Rising Star in Legal 500 for Banking and Finance, and for the second year running as a Leading Junior for Insolvency. In a particularly notable achievement, she was ranked as a Leading Junior for Insolvency two years ahead of the guideline call bracket, leapfrogging the Rising Star category.

Katharine Bailey was appointed to the Attorney General’s C Panel of Counsel. She was also ranked for a second consecutive year in leading legal directories for her Offshore work.

Claire Errington had a busy year of practice including a secondment, significant work on the Undercover Policing Inquiry and a trial in Jersey. Beyond her legal practice, Claire also performed at the Royal Albert Hall as part of the Royal Choral Society.

Anna Lancy successfully represented a high profile Saudi national in a £10 million debt claim within the High Court of England & Wales. By navigating complex jurisdictional challenges and enforcement conflicts between UK and Saudi law, Anna negotiated a settlement reducing the liability by 80%. This strategic resolution preempted enforcement proceedings, mitigated significant litigation costs, and ensured the client’s anonymity throughout the process.

Tabitha Hutchison has been acting as sole counsel for a major global corporation in high value disability discrimination proceedings over the past year. The claim remains ongoing.

Anna Gatrell has appeared as sole counsel in substantive applications in the Chancery Division and Kings Bench Division (including the Circuit Commercial Court).

Nicole Pearson, who became a tenant in summer 2025, has enjoyed a strong first year of practice. She has appeared in courts across the country and handled a broad range of matters, from package travel claims to proceedings involving allegations of misfeasance in public office. Her developing practice continues to grow with confidence and breadth.

We are equally pleased to celebrate the achievements of our staff. Liz Heathfield has returned as our Head of Marketing and Business Development and is enjoying reconnecting with Chambers — and with a new grandchild. Furthermore, Phoebe Maton joined as a Marketing and Business Development Assistant in January, and before joining successfully defended her thesis with and graduated her Masters in Management with a grade equivalent of a first-class distinction. Katie Williams, our junior practice manager, achieved an impressive 98% in her PME Business Management course. Finally, we continue to be grateful for the support of Kathryn Powell, Nicola White and Susan Johnson, as Chambers simply wouldn’t function without them.

At 3 Hare Court Chambers, we remain committed to supporting women at every stage of their careers, ensuring they have the opportunities and platform to excel. The achievements of the past year demonstrate the strength and breadth of talent within Chambers. We look forward to continuing this work in the year ahead.
