Although an auditor had negligently prepared accounts that grossly overstated a company's profits and that company was subsequently liquidated, he was not liable to the guarantor of the company's loan from a bank, because it was clear from the facts that the guarantor, who was also the company's main shareholder and sole director, did not believe the accounts and had not actually relied on them.
