James Dingemans QC appeared for the Respondent in this appeal to the Privy Council leading Advocate Gordon Dawes from Guernsey. The claim arises out of a road traffic accident involving a cyclist who had represented Guernsey at the Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur in 1998. The award of damages to the Claimant had been increased to nearly £14 million by the Court of Appeal. The appeal concerned the issue of discount rates to be applied in Guernsey.
The hearing took place on 25 and 26 January 2012 and judgment is awaited.
