Barristers from 3 Hare Court part of Athens Legal Support Project

28 March 2017

Miranda Butler , Julia Lowis and Natasha Jackson will  be travelling to Greece over the coming months to work with refugees in Athens as part of a team organised by the Immigration Law Practioners' Association.

The project will run as a three-month pilot from April-July 2017 providing legal support to refugees and Greek lawyers, working with a community centre in Athens. The project hopes to use this opportunity to explore whether legal support can be offered on a long term basis to refugees in Greece. Further information on the project can be found here.

Miranda has seen first-hand the desperate need for legal advice and support for asylum seekers having worked pro bono on the Greek island of Chios last summer- her co-authored article which considers the humanitarian crisis was published by the New Statesman and is available to read here
