Richard accepts instructions on a wide range of civil and commercial matters. He regularly appears in court for both trials and interlocutory applications as well as undertaking a range of pleading and advisory work.
Prior to joining 3 Hare Court, Richard was Head of Legal Content at Informa’s CPDcast.com, an online legal resource and legal training provider. As well as interviewing leading members of the legal profession, Richard also lectured on a wide variety of common law topics. Richard is also a contributor to the Chambers’ Personal Injury and City Lawyer bulletins.
Richard advises drafts pleadings and appears in court in a wide variety of commercial claims and issues with particular expertise in matters involving insolvency and bankruptcy, consumer credit, contractual disputes, company law and PPI.
Richard undertakes a wide-variety of personal injury work, including employers, occupiers and public liability cases and advises on matters of liability and quantum.
Richard also has a strong property law practice and accepts instructions from both landlords and tenants on matters concerning forfeiture of commercial properties, possession claims, dilapidation claims and general disputes between landlords and tenants.
Richard is regularly instructed to advise and appear in matters pertaining to travel claims.
Richard is also regularly instructed in accident and illness claims, on behalf of both Claimants and Defendants, being brought under the Package Travel and Regulations as well as the Athens (ships/cruises) and Montreal (air carriage) Conventions and has recently provided seminars on their practical application and procedural perils and pitfalls. Richard has also acted in claims arising from flight delays and cancellations under the Denied Boarding Regulations.
Richard also undertakes work focusing on jurisdictional disputes and cases involving conflicts of law such as enforcement of foreign judgments, claims against foreign Defendants and questions of applicable law and jurisdiction.
