Claire gained experience across all of Chambers’ core practice areas during pupillage. She regularly appears in trials, preliminary hearings and interim applications in the County Court, as well as undertaking a variety of paperwork across chambers’ practice areas.
Prior to pupillage and throughout her policy work at the United Nations Department of Peace Operations and elsewhere in New York, Nairobi and Cape Town, Claire gained exposure to many jurisdictions and legal systems. Her work and research have seen her interviewing leading International Criminal Court prosecutors at The Hague, as well as acting as legal representative of refugees in South Africa in matters ranging from property disputes to employment issues.
Claire has undertaken a variety of pro bono legal work, including acting as Project Leader of Durham University’s Lawyers Without Borders and Syrian Legal Development Programmes, whereby she worked on a variety of projects and cases to promote access to justice and the rule of law across the world
Claire has a keen interest in matters of public law, and is currently being led by Thomas Roe KC in Judicial Review proceedings in the High Court of Justice.

Claire is developing a broad practice incorporating all aspects of company and insolvency litigation and advisory work. Claire’s work currently includes advising on insolvency applications and litigation, and she is regularly instructed to appear in winding up and bankruptcy petitions. She was most recently been instructed to advise on a insolvency application with a complex dispute in relation to COMI.
Claire has also assisted senior members of chambers in various company and insolvency matters, including drafting an injunction in relation to the future presentation of a winding up petition, and providing assistance in a matter relating to the restriction of transfers of shares in companies in articles of association and shareholders agreements.
Claire’s practice also encompasses property law matters. She has court experience representing clients in matters arising out of property defects, disrepair and repair works. She has also appeared in possession hearings flowing from bankruptcy proceedings, and provided advice on such matters.
Claire is developing a broad practice encompassing all aspects of commercial litigation and advisory work, advising on a range of general matters and drafting contracts for commercial transactions.

Claire has developed a busy practice in personal injury. She regularly appears in court and advises on issues arising out of road traffic accidents, accidents abroad, holiday sickness claims, occupier’s liability, the Highways Act 1980, and procedural issues in relation to the relationship between Part 7 and Part 8 proceedings. Claire is developing particular expertise in procedural matters, liability, causation, quantum, and evidential issues. She has also assisted senior members of chambers in personal injury matters, conducting research for Howard Stevens KC and James Hawkins in a dispute over the liability of a public body in relation to a Highways Act 1980 claim.
She accepts instructions on a wide array of litigation, including interim applications, costs disputes, case management conferences (CMCs) and costs and case management conferences (CCMCs) as well as drafting advices, including quantum advices for use in infant settlement approval hearings.
Claire frequently accepts instructions in a broad variety of matters involving the Package Travel Regulations (both the 1992 and 2018 iterations), appearing in court for fast track trials as well as undertaking an extensive travel and aviation paperwork practice. Her paperwork practice includes drafting pleadings and advices in matters relating to the Package Travel Regulations. She has recently advised a client on procedural processes and difficulties when claiming against the Motors Insurance Bureau.
Claire regularly represents a number of airlines in claims for breach of contract and passenger compensation claims under the Montreal Convention and Regulation (EC) No 261/2004 of the European Parliament and of the Council. Further, she also drafts pleadings on behalf of airlines for use in Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution proceedings.
Claire also publishes articles on the latest developments in travel litigation in Chambers’ Travel and Aviation Quarterly. This has included a case analysis regarding the High Court’s judgment in Lambert v Motor Insurer’s Bureau [2022] EWHC 583 (QB) with Asela Wijeyaratne. She has also written articles on other travel law matters, including an analysis of the CJEU referral on the issue of interpretation of Articles 3 and 13(1) of the Motor Insurance Directive 2009/103.
